Artists You Should Know Ep. 3 - Dayes
by Sapphire Skye Toth - Orkest Artistic Director
The Dayes Music Project - spearheaded by Patrick “Pat” Morelli is perhaps one of the most New England TM acts to share the “stage” with Orkest. I discovered them for myself in the summer of 2025 when Mr. Algae Rhythm decided to serve me something good for once on Instagram as the group promoted their debut album.
With a sound reminiscent of the Mt. Joy Band, Noah Khan and Iron & Wine, Dayes was founded by Pat and his wife Camille due to their shared love of music and community. Their music is the kind of music that makes me feel like I’m hiding away in the Map Room at the Copley Library while it snows just a little too much… waiting for my 2nd or 3rd pot of tea to arrive. It’s a universal feeling with that special touch that makes it perfectly Boston.
Since Dayes released their album last fall, they’ve been taking the world by storm. They’re a regular with SoFar Sounds now, while continuing to Headline at bars such as the iconic Middle East, every Porchfest you can think of, all while continuing to teach during the day. I wouldn’t be surprised if, within the next 2-3 years, Dayes is on the road with music as their full-time-gig.
This band’s music is for those who want music that’s like your favorite cable-knit sweater, its comfort allows you to explore the world and see what’s out there.
Pat should never be a meteorologist though. Right after he released “No More Snow” New England got a record breaking amount and frankly… I blame him.
